Default Shifter console question (with pics)

Re-assembling my interior after repairing my gauge lights and installing a new stereo. Got a new shifter console and I see it has the same 2 brackets on the underside that the original did. These weren't attached to anything when I took it apart and I don't see them in the AIM. What are they for?

I think those are for the kick panel door cables, used only on non AC cars. IIRC

That is what they are for, to secure the cables that run to the kick panel vent doors.

Look again; they're in the AIM in the section showing the vent doors. Cable routing is also there.

Thanks guys! I have AC so I'll not be using these. The console I removed must have come from a different car because I see there is part of a bolt broken off inside one of the brackets. I guess after 40 years anything is possibe.
