Hey guys,
I'm having trouble getting my new radio to power up. Last night I removed the old radio (at least 20 years old) to replace with a JVC I had laying around. It would not power up so I figured it was busted, so I went out and bought a Sony today. That one doesn't work either. I took the original radio and rehooked the wires (red yellow black) and it plays. Is there something different about the new radios? Any advice would be appreciated.
- Jay
Hello Jay. On my '77 the original radio used a Black-ground, Gray-dash lighting and Yellow-switched power wire. Most modern radios use a Black-ground, Orange or Yellow-hot at all times to power clock and memory and Red-switched power. It sounds like you are not getting power from the yellow to the red. Your '76 may be different. Post back and we will figure it out. mike...

Reason: Switched wires colors
okay, I just hooked to yellow & red wires from the radio together and connected to the red lead and it powered up. So... I guess there is no power at the yellow lead?
