The Vette is getting close to being ready at the body shop where it has been getting body worked and primered. Plan is to bring it home now and swap the sbc for a bbc, do some more mechanical and interior stuff then return for finish paint. Question is: I assume it will be necessary to raise the front end up to get the car in a better position for engine R&R. How much does it need to be raised up? (I plan to use a cherry picker for the swap.) If anyone has photos of their set up I would love to see them.
I just pulled my motor and trans not a difficult job. I put all four wheels on ramps to disconnect everything. Then I put the front wheels on the ground. Straddled the passenger tire with the cherry picker and pulled motor and tranny together. I did have a second person to guide the tailshaft while going over the body. Mine is an auto so tranny crossmember was removed. Best of luck

So you had the rear end higher than the front end? I would have thought I would need to do the opposite. Not sure if I will remove the tranny (4 spd) with the engine or not. Typically I didn't in the other cars I have done; but none of them were Vettes.
If I was just pulling the engine I would not have had either one raised. Probably didn't need rear raised but I was to lazy to take it off the ramps because I would have had to put it back to do some other work in the rear of the car. It worked out fine.
