bad whistle from carb

bad whistle from carb
Holley 600 Double pumper:
I think my throttle plate is warped?
I have a ear piercing whistle from the drivers side, but I tried two gaskets, one new one but it keeps whistling.
I took the carb apart and ran a strait edge across the bottom and its not flat so I filed and filed and filed and its not getting any flatter?
Its bowed up in the middle on the outer edges.
how does this happen?
I thought I heard it on the performer intake just alittle but on this cross wind air gap intake its real bad, the intake is flat.
I guess i'll get a new throttle plate.

Overtightening to the intake and/or not tightening progressively in a x pattern can warp the plate.
Unfortunately I can't imagine the filing you're doing is helping matters unless you have the hands, patience & skills of a high end custom gunsmith.

I had the same problem with a Holley 4801 . Mine was the bottom surface of the carb body that was warped . There was a post here a while back mon how to fix it by hand with a piece of plate glass cut to the correct width and sand paper. Worked for me . Sanded it flat and a new gasket did the trick.
