Default Noisy Elec. Fule Pump - Need Replacement

I installed a Carter electric fuel pump installed on the right rear frame rail and it sounds like I have an RC airplane in the trunk. This is an inline unit and I used all the rubber mouting. It feeds a standard holley 650 carb. I wanted an electic carb after having a unit fail on my 68 pickup and it sparyed fuel on the camshaft. Anyways, I'm looking for a replacement and there is a lot of units intended for fuel injection. I like the sleek style of the Holley in-line fuel pump, but its intended for FI.

My question to the experts...If I run a fuel pump intended for a FI system what problems will I have? Let me add that I modified the original fuel lines at the engine so I could retain the stock fuel pump becuase I wanted to keep the return line working. I also installed a regulator close to the carb and set it at 6lbs.

What happens to the fuel when pumped at higher pressure and it hits the regulator? Does the extra fuel pressure get sent down the return line? How much can a stock filter flow anyhow? Is there any damage to a fuel pump that's trying to pump 45lbs and is hitting resistance all the time?

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks!!
