Default brake q's 1972

When i got my car back from getting painted , which took some months b/c it was done on the side kinda deal, my brake pedal went to the floor. I check the master cylinder and the rear reservoir, closest to the firewall, was empty. This is the same situation that was present when I first got the car and it had sat for a few months. I borrowed a vacuum powered brake system flush device from a friend that has a garage and changed all the bleeder screws and then bled the system which gave me good pedal. So it seems as if the car sits the rear calipers will leak. Is that a good assumption? I do believe the rear calipers are old if not original, but the front calipers have been replaced some time recently. What the best place to start with diagnosing this problem. I want to fix it and not throw parts at it. The braking system to me is more important than how fast it goes. I want it to work at top notch. Any help is appreciated. By the way, I won't be driving it anytime soon b/c I am still re-assembling everything from the new paint job process.

thanks,

Sully

You should have sleeved calipers so you can rebuild them with an o-ring kit to get rid of the cup seals that tend to leak after sitting.

You'll find brake fluid if the rears are leaking.

well that's just it... I'm not finding brake fluid... I'm gonna pull the tires this weekend and look closer but if it's not at the calipers then it would be at the master.... either way whatever is leaking will show fluid around it right?

thanks,

Sully

The missing fluid is inside the brake booster.

if the fluid is in the booster does that mean the master is leaking and I should replace both of those items?
