The money pit keeps getting deeper. The mysterious knocking noise which I originally thought might be valves is not. Looks like the TH350 tranny was about to blow. Warped flywheel and planetary gears, bad seals and pump... whatever can be found inside an automatic tranny, its bad... :smash: And the weather here in western Pa is beautiful :mad
While I'm going through my engine I was thinking of doing the Turbo 350 tranny also. Nothing is really wrong buy might as well go through it while the engine is out. What are the advantages to upgrade to a 700r4 tranny, what rear end gears work well with it and where can I get some information about it.
Rebuilding the existing tranny is what I can afford right now,
but I'd also be interested in hearing what benefits there would be
in gong with the 700...
Main benefit of the 700 is the O/D. I think the final drive ratio for the 350, like my 4 speed is 1:1, with the 700 is belive it is .62 to one but don't [QUOTE] me on that. But is a diffenite RPM dropper for cruising. I am going either 5 speed (easier for my switch) or the 700 route. Still can't believe no O/D back when the speed limit was 90.
