Default Temp gauge/sender question

Howdy.
I'm in the process of de-bubbaring the 74, and for some reason, there's what looks like a 68 temp sender in the engine. It's causing the gauge to read very low. Does that sound like something that would happen with that setup?

Also, why would someone move the oil pressure sensor from above the oil filter, to the top rear of the engine near the firewall? I'm having issues with that as well, but my searching indicates that the resistor may be dodgy

On a positive note, my clock is now a runner!

Temp Gauge Test:
With the key on remove the wire from the sender gauge should go to cold.
Now ground the wire gauge should go to hot.
If that works try a BTW-WT203 sender, they are accurate (sometimes).

Why the oil sending unit was moved is anyone's guess.

Yep. The test worked Pete.
Thanks mate! Time to invest in a new sender!

Default search is your friend

I know there are many threads on the subject, here's mine when I replaced the one on my '71 with a BWD WT203Z.

Thanks! Yeah, I came across that when I was searching. I thought I'd ask anyways with the other questions. Still a mystery why the oil pressure sender was moved

I don't know if it helps any but I was searching and ran across your thread. I am also trying to reverse the bubbafication of my '80. The oil pressure sender is on the back valley of the block, next to the dizzy. I couldn't get the unit off before I pulled the engine as it kept hitting the firewall. I was looking to see if I could move it or swap it so that if it goes bad I can get it out later (without pulling the engine). I guess that means I would be rebubbafying my car?!?
