Well I pulled the trigger on a new ZZ454 engine and a TKO 600, I thought I would show my new engine and the process as it goes in. I hope to have it all complete by Thanksgiving! It is going into a 1971 Convertible.
Are you planning to use the carb and air cleaner the engine came with and if so have you been able to determine if they will fit OK under the hood?
Yes I have a hi rise hood so they will fit under it. If it was not the hi rise hood this setup wouldn't work. It is a Holley 770 Carb that came with the engine. This crate engine was an entire setup even the plug wires were run when I pulled it from the crate.
Are you planning to redo all the electrical in the car also? Why did not you go fuel injection? Just cuirious, I am trying to decide what to do in my 69 rebuild that I am about to start soon.

I decided against fuel injection because this engine came as a complete set and I do like a carburetor...
The intake water neck does swivel, just loosen the bolt and it swivels into any position for your setup. By the looks I am very happy, I just ordered a Billet Aluminum pulley setup also so it should look really nice at the end. I will be pulling the old engine on Sat and setting up the new one that day so I will take more pics.
I installed the same combination into my 69 vert, it has been the best money invested so far!
My engine came from Apple Chev in York PA, I bought it while at Fall Carsile, I saved 3K from buying it in Canada.
From Gm they don't come with a carb, wires, fuel pump and distributor, at least when I bought it 4 years ago, I added a short GM aluminum water pump and fuel pump, and changed out the automatic transmission flex plate to a manual transmission flywheel.
I use a Center Force Dual Friction clutch assembley, excellant performance so far!
Just add some Hooker side pipes like I did.
From your pictures, the car looks great,is that a VPB steering rack-attack?
