I've got the Tach/Speedo dash pad out found that I had somehow pulled the electric fan power loose. Power was supplied through one of the 25Amp slip on connections then routed through a on/off switch I placed next to the headlight override switch. When I was chasing the connection I touched an open wire and created a spark. Now the radio is off. All interior lights are off. The wire that had power to it no longer has that either.
I had taken tomorrow off to put the dash back in, but now I've screwed this up and don't know where to start.
Note: I can see most of the fuses and they look like they are ok.
Just be patient. Sooner or later, a guy named Roger will post, and he has never failed me when it comes to electrical stuff. I can almost guarantee that he will know what to do.
yep. Use a test light or continuity check on a multi to figure out if a fuse is blown. Or jump it with a wire/paper clip. Just because a fuse looks good doesn't mean it works.
You let the smoke out of the wire. seriously you probably burnt a wire or blew a fuse. there is a guy on here that will e mail you a wiring diagram for your car.
Thanks to you all. The first thing I bought today (way overdue) was a good test light. What I did next was replace each and every fuse. I removed the on/off switch (hated that as a solution) I found that a power point, for lack of a better word) to the left of the radio fuse had power when the key is on, which is what I wanted for the fans.
Next, I replaced each and every fuse (found two blown) and all is well. Here's some weirdness that I hadn't seen before. The fuse looked perfectly intact. However when I popped it out and inspected, it looked as though a solder was broken. It would work sometimes and others not (radio).
Sorry for freaking out.....but many thanks for all of the input.
Thanks petes74ttop for the *.PDF diagram. I'll get it laminated because I'm certain that when I do the frame off and replace the wiring, this will come in handy.
