I am trying to replace the fuel pump on my 82. I have all the lines and bolts removed, but can't seem to position the thing so I can get it out. Any ideas? I am afraid I will have to drop the tank.

Reason: grammer
I loosened the straps on the tank, and shifted it side to side with a crow bar in order to manipulate the sending unit / fuel pump out...It was even harder to get it back in! Impossible without moving the tank.
The opening for the filler cap is smaller than the sending unit flange, and the unit needs to be twisted in order to remove. PITA, but do-able.
