I've seen some Vettes with a variety of different shifter *****. I'm looking for something that will add some "spice" to the center console area and thought this might be a good start. But, I haven't had any luck finding anything besides the basic chrome or black chrome shifter *****. Any ideas on who might sell different styles? I have a '70 with the Muncie 4 speed/Hurst shifter.
I can't think of anything offhand, but I do know that having an oddball shifter can be somewhat obscene. Get a shifter that matches the interior theme (wood shifter for a wood grain or black leather for a black leather) with maybe a little chrome to set it off. It is the subtle things that add up to make something nice. Good luck!
If you have an idea of what you want, I might be able to make you one. I have made a few and sold them to members here on the forum. If I could figure out how, I would attach a picture, but I am still trying to figure that out.

Re: Hurst Shifter **** Ideas (SprintCarDriver)
Brings back a memory from 1971. I had just graduated HS and started my first real job and was making good money for a change. I bought a new GTO 400 4 speed with the Hurst shifter from the factory and remember the little white ball that came on it.
My previous '66 GTO had a Hurst T-Handle on it, and it was the "In thing" at the time to have. I always ran mine backwards cause it really fit my big hand a lot better. But dang if it wasn't cold on your hand in the Wintertime.
Well, Hurst had just came out with a Plastic T-Handle. Hey, I thought it was really good and it has to be tough. So I bought one and screwed it on backwards just like the previous one.
I remember street racing one night and it was a cold winter night at that and just as I went into third gear with that famous Power Shift I had the sucker broke right in half.
Now that wasn't the bad part, the bad part was when the power shift rammed the shifter handle about a half inch innto my hand and made a nice big hole.
Remind me I'll show you the scar sometime................................ ...JIM :nopity

Re: Hurst Shifter **** Ideas (Chris Fowler '80)
I'm using the aluminum Hurst T-handle shifter with my competition +. I switch between the white ball from time to time but the T-handle is a lot easier to find when you're hands were on the steering wheel.

I got to admit that the chrome ball look is the best, You might just want to be diferent but that ball is the best, no matter how hot it get or how cold, just love it.
You guys with the T handle :U it's

I taped off the top half of mine and put some stick on stars on it and then painted it blue. When the paint dried and I took the tape and stars off, I had a blue field with white stars. Next, I taped off the top and taped off stripes on the bottom half; painting this red.
When that dried I peeled off the tape and shot it with clear acrylic.
Now I have the stars and stripes on the center console of my bicenteniel vette.
