popping noise after hard acceleration?

sometimes my vette makes a popping noise back thru exhaust after I back off gas after a fast acceleration....is there something wrong with my jets in carb,,,,someone told me it could be from being a little too lean?

This is usually caused by one or both: Lean condition in the carb, Exhaust leak

I had the same thing, ended up being an exhaust leak.

In the motorbike world, this is almost always an exhaust leak. Air gets sucked into the exhaust & mixes with unburnt fuel, & ignites.

I'll second this. I had nice quality copper header gaskets and still could not get a good seal, so I added some high temp gasket sealer to the copper gasket and no problems since.
