Default electrical problems

Hi i have just purchased an 81 corvette and I am trying to find a good wiring diagram as the car has no horn and i can not find any wires that may show where it was, also some of the gauges do not work, I also need to change the indicators on the rear as we can not have red turn signals in Australia must have orange, to do this i must change the reversing lights to become the indicators and use a orange light bulb, i believe this is done at the steering wheel some how?? can anyone help with detailed wiring diagrams ?? Thanks

you can use doc rebuild diagrams as well. That is what I used when I replaced my wiring harness. PM papawana and he will email you a wiring diagram. I couldn't read it as well as the doc rebuild but it is a very detailed diagram.

With the Doc Rebuild, it shows pics of every wire clip and wire connector from the harness, which really makes it ez.

I had to do the same with mine (I'm in the UK). I redirected the wires at the back of the car. I.e. cut both turn signal & reversing lights +ve feeds, then attach the turn signal wires to the reversing lights.

I can't imagine why you'd want to do it at the steering wheel, even if there are separate feeds going to each reversing light, which seems a bit unlikely.

Default Does this help?

Here's a free black & white schematic:

Look up Jim Shea's papers for horn troubleshooting.

Willcox has a "how to" for troubleshooting the gauges in his "help & repair section.

Enjoy your new Vette.
