I just bought a 1979 Corvette w/ a 350 lt edelbrock engine, I replaced the spark plugs and Spark Plug Wires after purchase and took it for a test drive and while driving it the rpms bottomed out to 0 and the car then refused to start. I had it towed home and later that night i tried to start it again. It then started for about 5-10 secs then died, the second try it did the same thing and on the third there was a loud Backfire then absolutly nothing!! The Lights and all work but the starter will not turn over. I took the Starter out today and had it checked and it is fine. Al the Lights work etc, but the engine will not respond. What could be causing this issue?

well look for the fusible links at the starter and see if they are melted through..... you can look at them physically by pulling back the convoluted tubing....or get a test light and see if you have power down there when you turn the ignition switch.
also check all the grounds and clean them....by battery box to frame and then from pass side frame horn to engine.

If you crank the engine enough to overheat the starter the fusible link will sometimes blow. It looks like a piece of normal wire, but has a "fuse" section that will open under current loads higher than it's stated rating.
Your car sounds like it's running out of gas. Check the fuel filter for blockage, the fuel pump for proper operation.
