This may seem like a silly question... What tire pressures should I be running with 235-70-15 radials? I'm guessing that the corvette book's recommendations of 22 front and 26 rear apply to fiberglas belted tires. Should my steel belts be higher? I seem to be wearing the outside edges more than the middle. Plus, 22 front gives me a sluggish steering.
Remember most tire ratings are COLD. So if you drive some where to add air or just drove and check them it will/should be higher.
For me if warm I do 34-35front and 32-33 rear.
I get good even wear with those. Also make sure to adjust if the temp drops more than 10degrees on average since filling them.
The original radial cold pressure ratings are too low for todays tires. Try 30 and adjust a few pounds up or down depending on the ride you like or tire wear. Checking a cold tire is more reliable.
I run 30 lbs. all the way around and I'm just North of Buffalo, although my baby is tucked away warm and safe for the long winter. I also see you're a Bills fan. I offer my condolences.

My '80 has 255/60/15s, I run 'em at 32 psi. Maybe the extra width needs a couple more lbs.? I don't know.
The bias-ply tires needing more less air pressure makes sense. I remember when I was a little kid back in the '70s when radial tires were new, people would always look at radials and say "Hey, your tires are a little low on air......" it took awhile for folks to figure out that the radials needed more psi than bias-ply tires. I think the bias-ply tires had a stiffer sidewall or something, not really sure.
I run 32 in the front with 235's and 33 in the rear with 245's. BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. This seems to give me a little more control and doesn't jar my teeth! I use nitrogen to cut down on the expansion/contraction with the season changes here in northern New England.
We have plenty of potholes but most are fixed by the time we start cruisin' and beatin'.
I agree, the max. inflation listed on the side of the tire is just that, maximum.
The beast is smooth at 125 and does mad burnouts without wheel hop so I'll stick with the pressures.
