Default Head lights

I dont like the pop up lights I just want them imbedded with a plastic/plexiglass cover or however it comes, i have seen it done on some c3's but I would like to do it to mine.
I was curious if there was any kits or anything of the sort and what would it be called?

Also im looking to bring out power in my car and the next on the list is the heads I was wanting to know if anyone could help me find which ones would be best to bring out the most power.

I have
comp cam - 268/268, Lift .454/.454
600 edelbrock carb - wanting to switch it out for a holley when i get the new heads on what should i get 670 or 770?
headers with a true dual exhaust system all the way back no cata converters
edelbrock performer intake manifold
(no egr or emissions on the car)
th350 trans

Matt,
Not sure how much you hate the pop-up lights but for a little more than $1,000, Eckler's sells a rectangular headlight kit that does what you want. You'll need the headlight buckets...

I'm not aware of anyone besides Eckler's still making the flat cover setup. If another site (or Ebay) is selling them, they are probably in the same ballpark. You may find someone who wants to replace their Eckler's setup and swap you for your pop-up headlights. Just post a wanted ad in the C3 For Sale/Wanted section.

There is another style headlight setup that was used on race-prepared L-88 FIA Corvettes. Members on this forum have had L-88 FIA headlight setups for sale from time to time. This one sold a long time ago but a recent post to the ad has popped up with a possible new source. These light setups look like this...

You will probably get more responses on head selection if you start a new thread with "Cylinder Head Suggestions" in the topic. Before you do that you might want to search the C3 Tech/Performance forum for existing posts on the subject. A huge amount of advice has already been given but I don't think there are any simple answers.

Are you looking for a low cost upgrade? That probably eliminates aluminum heads. Do you want to keep the headers you have? That might eliminate 23-degree heads. Are you looking to build power at high rpm or do you want more torque. If you are looking for high-end power you probably have to change your torque converter and maybe make some changes to your transmission. You have a Performer intake manifold so you'll have to stick with a square bore carb.

The choices you make on each part affects the other choices. You might want to do more research and look for a combination that matches your goals. You describe wanting to "bring out power" but I don't know if that means bringing out 25 or 250 more horsepower. There are several well written books on building and modifying small block Chevy V8s. They contain more facts than opinions and you will be happier if the choices are yours.
