Default T Top adjustment

I recently purchased a used set of T tops for my 1979 Corvette. I was told that they came off of a 1972. I can not get them to fit properly. I can't get the rear guide pin to align with the hole in the locating plate. Does anyone have any detailed suggestions on how to get the tops to fit properly? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

72 tops were a different design than 78-82. Can you post a pic of the latch mechanism on the tops?

They might have been off a 72 but they are not from 72 if they use a rear rod that slides into the plate (My 72 has been changed to take the newer style T's)

There are two screws in the plate in the halo and if you loosed (not remove) them off the plate will move somewhat to help align the rod.

I don't recall any adjustment in the rod on the T-top )but could be wrong, that was a while ago)

They are M89.6 model. My previous set were M94A. I have compared them and everything seems to match up the same. It's just the pin at the back corner doesn't match up. Can I just switch out the hardware from one set to the other? I still have the other set but the passenger side glass shattered.

Moving all the rods from the old roof will likely not help unless something is bent in the new ones.

There are only the two styles double latch (front and back) and single latch & Pin (yours) Any single latch T-top should fit with adjustments (they are not perfect by any means)

Which way does the pin not line up? Is it off sideways or up-down?
If it's off sideways, the center tabs may need to be adjusted. they are slotted and shimmed (up down) and will change how far in/out the t-top goes onto the car.

Wilcox has a great .pdf for adjusting the Single lever T-top

And this is exactly how he'll solve the issue. the tops need to be adjusted and re-shimmed.
