I recently started getting a wierd symptom. Sometimes I push the brake pedal and it is really soft and although it brakes, it feels too soft and the pedal seems to travel too far in, but if I pump it again immediately it is hard and the brakes work fine.
That would be air in one or more of the lines. If one of either the rear or front wheels lock up when this happens then the lines that didn't lock up would be the ones that have a problem, or it could be the master cylinder going out and allowing fluid to pass internally between the front and back...especially if the brake light comes on when that happens. Bleed the system and see if you can get all the air out. Air in the system could mean a leaky caliper.
