Re: L 82 and L 48 (Ganey)
L82 is a de-tuned 1970 350/350 engine just lower compression and more polution related stuff. As a matter of fact the Goodwrench crate engine is based on a 4 bolt maine L82 engine and the good news is you can buy it for less then $1400 with a 3 year warranty.

Cam and compression. Plus a little help from larger valves. The big plus for the L82 is a stronger lower end with forged parts and 4-bolt mains. And depending upon year, the L82 had 2 1/2 inch exhaust vs the L48 2 inch exhaust.

But cast not forged crank, cast pistons and small cam. Got one and it is worth the money. If I keep it, I will put the aluminum heads on and it should be a nice little engine with about 330 horse.

I have a 74 w/ L82 and I would like more technical data, 250hp vs 195 for the base 350, sounds like a lot to me, any ideas to find more data, anyone?

Ken,
The 74 is basicly the same as the 73, so take a look at The '73 Spot for details. Here is the direct like to the specs page: http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/vette73/compair.htm
