Default corvetteworks update.....

I have gotten a steady flow of business in the shop now. Knock on wood! I am now ready to get a website designed. I have set myself up with accounts with many different distributors. I will be able to offer my new parts cheaper than must sites are selling for. My concern is what stuff to carry on my website. I can carry everything you would see on the major sites like ecklers for example. Problem is, i can't afford to pay someone to build me a site that large. So, i am trying to find out what type of parts you guy's would want to see on it. I know for sure that i will carry complete interiors. But what other things do you feel are high demand items? Your input will be very very very helpfull. :chevy

What he said

How about the really hard to find parts...
Most collector edition, pace car, silver anniversary parts.
These are the hard ones to find.
How about some costum made CE rear hatch hinges that won't stretch...

Why don't you list your suppliers on you site and just advertise that you'll beat other's posted prices?
Easier than building your own detailed site.... :D

I'll bet the highest-demand C3 items are calipers and suspension bits. Maybe seat rebuild material as well? And, lately of course, you could probably stock some TTII's!!! ;) Everyone is getting those now it seems.

If you're limited in how many items you're going to put on your site, I'd put a few of the common parts people shop for (carpet sets, door panels, vacuum hose kits, brake/suspension parts) as well as one or two of the "hard to find" parts... that way people can get an idea of how much cheaper you are than the competition. Check out Willcox's website for what I believe to be a pretty good, basic low budget website that gets the job done. A monthly special section might be a cool idea, too...
BTW, the camaro seat belt thing is a good idea, since alot of C3ers use belts from camaros to replace the often-missing belts in their C3s.
As far as actually creating the page, do you have any html knowledge? I'd be happy to help put together a basic page for a fellow forum member. Email me if you're interested (jawillis@wt.net).

I like the interior package idea. I'll be looking to replace my door panels down the road. Typical mod stuff (intake, carb, headers, etc..) would probably be good and maybe brake, suspension and TT II's ;) .

You know I thought about actually doing that. You would have you go to the other sites, figure out what you want. Give me there price, and then i would beat it. Problem with that is how i would set up the ordering. I still need a shopping cart type site where i could accept your credit card. Otherwise i would have to sit on the phone all day accepting orders
As far as the website goes. Whoever wants to help me get one set up. Well, let's just say you will have your corvette parts at wholesale prices for the rest of your life! :D Having the site is definatly a priority. I want to be able to show pictures of the work being done in the shop. The high tech machining center where all the engine work is being performed. And if possible, pictures of hot looking women in corvette's :blueangel:

Glad to see you are making progress. I would advertise parts and supplies in two catregories
1. What breaks the most and fails the most on C3's.
2. Resto parts for interior and headlights.

Then maybe have a service of for price quotes with in 24 hours.

Good luck

Good deal, I'm happy to hear things are going well for you. I would suggest sticking with items that are more universal (fit a large range of applications). This will help you keep your inventory down. If you are having everything drop shipped, then that isn't as much of a concern. Keep records of what people request. This will help you determine what you should stock.

Here's a web site tip from my experience (I'm not an experienced programmer, this is from the business side of using it). Your web site should be database driven, this will allow you to make changes easily and quickly as your business and product mix changes. Keep us informed and good luck!

Thanks to all of you that have offered to design a website for my company  What a great bunch of people we have here. Let me just add that out of the 9 people that offered the service. Not one of them wanted any money. Though i believe parts at wholesale prices for the rest of there lives what a pretty good incentive  Find me another place in this world where an offer like that will be presented to you
Anyway, i have decided to go with Mr. Fowler. He has an extensive back ground in the type of site i need designed. I am going to carry quite a bit of c3 stuff. Though i believe the c4, and especially the c5 market are huge right now. I am going to include a request form for parts customers would like to see added.
Keep me in mind before ordering stuff. I am already set up with several distributors. So i can get you guy's stuff even before my site goes online. Just tell me what you need. What the best price you can find is. And i will beat it.

Check out http://www.parts123.com. That is who Corvette Central uses. The company I work for also uses them. It is database driven.

They are real nice people, and easy to work with. I don't think it is insanely expensive to get going, there monthly fee is dependent on the file size.

I think Corvette Centrals order process works very well.

A catalog? don't i wish  seriously, I do plan on having one down the road. But i can't even think about that right now.
Fortunatly my wife and i are trying to work out our differences. Thank god for that :) With the extra help she has offered. I should be able to get alot more accomplished. If i could just teach her how to r&r a motor i would be all set!
