Replacing HEI coil???

Replacing HEI coil???
Should the HEI coil be replaced on a regular basis? Is it something that keeps working fine until it quits, or does its performance degrade over time? Mine's working, but I'm not sure if I should replace it or leave it alone...

I wouldn't replace it on a regular basis, but I would upgrade to a High Performance model, if you have the extra money. Easier starting, better mileage, and it is certainly easy enough to do. Once you do that, then just leave it. I am replacing mine in a few weeks, with the one that comes on the new GM crate engines.

My answer is: If you have a lot of miles on the car, and if, you want a little better performance, then upgrade to a higher kv coil AND upgrade the plug wires at the same time.
I put in a MSD 48kv coil and new silicone plug wires when my HEI module went bad.
