I have a couple of questions about my 74' and putting it together:
1. Is the trans dipstick specific to a Corvette or will a generic of the shelve one work?
2. What does the lever on the transmission look like and where can I find one? Its a TH-400 with a cable shift, is there a bracket for the cable besides the lever or does the cable just go on to the lever? I've called a few places for this part but they say I would need to go with a used one. I have been given numbers of used parts places to call but no luck.
3. What is the best procedure or maybe the only way to install the engine and trans? I want to have a plan before I start. Trans first and then drop in the engine or can the two go in together?
I bought a transmission dipstick and tube from Summit for a TH400. I know some of the vendors here offer both specifically for corvettes. There is a bracket that the cable slips into that attaches to the transmissions pan and again is sold by the supporting vendors. Hope this helps some.
The cable is hanging there, that's the way it came. Yeah I guess putting a WTB message is the next step. There was a place in St Louis that was going to get back to me if they had one but didn't hear anything for a week. Any advice on dropping in the engine and trans.
