Default Removing the left lower dash.

I've ruined my 69 vette original dash by removing and replacing the dash several times. I've learned the fibreglass backing has become very brittle with age. I finally decided to remove stress when removing and replacing replacing the dash I should first remove the right lower dash, then loosen the center instrument cluster and then with those item loosened/removed I then remove and replace the the left lower dash with ease i.e., no restrictions.

I also learned to remove the speedometer and tach cables simply press the speedo/tach clip. Don't try to pry it off.

We do learn from our mistakes. Practise makes perfect. The cart before the horse, and always remember to measure twice, and cut once. You know ???????

Ah yes....The pros and cons of original parts. They fit as they should as compared to the replacement parts but they are fragile.
I wish I would have used more care with my original parts. The replacements were a pain to get to fit right.

Default You are sooo right

I'm now struggling to learn the options for buying NEW parts. As for the left lower dash. My problem is resolved. When I started this process a couple of months ago I was new and as a result naive. For new searchers for left lower dashes, I'm now trying to determine their choices. I've been led to believe there is a UNIVERSAL dash design for dashes for 69 to 78. The only difference in installation is the bracket. I'm not aware of dashes designed for particular a year series. Eckler's offers dash with 4 part numbers from 69 to 78. They show front pictures that don't show "****" about the back so one does not know if all of the backs are the same. As I learn more I'll post it on the forum and for those that help me in my learning process I''ll give them credit should they desire.
