Correct speed for turn signals?
Does anyone know how fast turn signals should flash on-off? I thought mine were flashing too fast so it was suggested that I replace the flasher unit to an electronic unit. I did, but I still think they're flashing too fast.

Re: Correct speed for turn signals? (1970 Stingray)
After I thought about it, one blink per second isn't so bad so I went out and took another look.
The turn signals are blinking much faster than once per second----it's more like 3 times per second! Any ideas why?? It looks stupid too! :yesnod:

Signal flashers are built to flash about a second or so depending on the current load. The more current load there is, the faster they flash. You could try buying a heavy duty truck flasher designed for trucks that pull trailers. You might check to see if there is a problem with one of your light sockets. Corrosion or a frayed wire could cause an excessive load situation on the flasher.
:)
Incorrect flasher??? Some are made for just turnsignals, some for turnsignals and 4 way flashers, some for "2 bulb" taillights, and some for "4 bulb" taillights. I'd check your owners manual, and see what was "correct" for your car, and then buy a comparable replacement, or an original. Hope this helps. Chuck

Len, at first I thought it sounded like you have a heavy duty flasher. Maybe the bulbs are the wrong size for your car. Still kinda sounds like what Chuck was saying.
