X-pipe and Flowmaster(or comparable) install...how much performance difference?
Not to mention sound. What was the difference that you noticed? I'm considering having a local shop fabricate an X-pipe and install Flowmasters or comparable to let the 454 breathe better. How has it turned out for you all that have done it?
THANKS!

I had headers and the stock 2 1/2 exhaust and mufflers. I put on a set of well bent 2 1/2 pipes and 50 series Flowmasters. i picked up 4 mph and a couple of tenths in the 1/4 mile. Well worth it. It picked up a lot of mid range power and reved freely to 7000 rpm. I used to feel it lose a little power after 5500 before now it flows freely.

Vette454,
I have read a lot of dyno tests on open pipes vs. H-pipe vs. X-pipe, and all of the tets show the X-pipe to be about equal to open headers in HP and TQ, and well above the H-pipe or no crossover at all.
I upgraded my 406 exhaust to an X-pipe and Dynomax ultraflows (I had a H-pipe and quieter dynomax mufflers before). The difference was pretty noticeable. My car definitely picked up some HP and torque and it actually got quieter with the ultraflows. I did not put my 406 on the dyno before I did the exhaust, but I would take a guess at around a 20 hp 20ftlbs gain. Not bad for spending around $400.
