I have stock 350 ci engine that I recently had reworked.
However, when I got the car back, the dipstick is angled incorreclty, and the dip stick is hard to reinsert into the tube that leads to the crankcase.
Can I just twist the tube it so it has a more verticle angle or does it have to be removed and reinstalled. I have never done this so I don't know what holds it in place and seals it up so oil doesn't leak out and how to remove it tube that must be done. I'm sure this is simple, but since I have never done this I don't want to snap things off and create oil leaks.
Dont twist the dipstick tube or youll break its seal at the oil pan. Consider getting it replaced so it sits as it should . Get a new dipstick if it is deformed
The dipstick tube is pressed into the Block not the oil pan. Since it has been recently worked and installed than you should be able to use a pair of pliers or vise grips attached near the base of the tube just above the block and rotate it back and forth to angle it in the direction that makes it easier to insert the dipstick.
You do need to exercise caution when adjusting the clamping pressure of the pliers so that you don't accidentally crush the tube, granted it will take a fair amount of pressure to do that so don't be shy just keep that in mind.
