Half shaft or u-joint the determining factor?
I was just finishing up painting the half shafts on my 80 when the bailing wire holding it broke and it came crashing down on my cement floor. Can you guess how it landed and what happened?? That's right, I now have a 1/8" dent in the U-Joint seat and it's toast so I need to find a new one. I know the u-joints are different between Automatic and manual cars, but the question is are all 3" half shafts the same size, and just use different u-joints, or are the half shafts themselves actually different between manual and auto? Bottom line is I need a new one and really want to find one used vs spending $190 on new. Thanks for any help!
