Default Nevernight headlight upgrade problem...

I'm trying to get the headlights that came with my Speed Direct Nevernight harness to fit but I'm a bit confused.

The documentation says to modify the buckets, and I have, but it seems the openings in the housing need to be opened up as well.

In this picture you can see the difference between the modified bucket opening and the housing opening...

Just to compare, with the modified buckets sitting right on the angled mounting supports that are part of the cast metal of the housing here is a shot of the stock lights which fit.

When I place the new Xenon lights into the buckets the rubber boot fits through the enlarged hole but then hits the housing 1/4" from being fully seated.

If the buckets are moved forward then they won't rest on those angled studs and the spring tension messes up the angle of the buckets.

I see the only way to fix this being to cut the holes in the housing to a larger size.

Anyone out there done this mod who can offer some advice?

-Brad

I'm pretty sure the guys at Speed Direct meant to say cut the housing as well, but I would appreciate if someone who has done this could chime in to maybe show how they have done it.

I just installed Cibie headlights and needed to enlarge the housing like you are suggesting. You can find the thread detailing the install here.

Here's a couple pics.

I enlarged the holes in the buckets as well. I think they always used a C2 for the instructions and maybe the headlight assy is different, but to make them fit a C3 in my opinion its a required modification.
Time to get the dremel out, Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I figured it needed to be enlarged there's just not much material along the bottom edge to cut away so it will be close.
