in the process of overhauling i found that the heater coil was bypassed. anyone know what kind of job it is to replace this and where to find one? or if there are any aftermarket alternatives?
still new to the vettes but im loving it more every time i look at it =)
I did my non-air 74 and it wasn't bad considering I already had the engine out of the car as well as the complete interior so dropping the right side dash parts wasn't much more work....
wow, thanks for the info guys, looks like a project lol, for now i dont have a place to work except out in the driveway. that will change soon enough though.....anyone want to donate a snowsuit or Parka please =)
Avette4me, I have changed a couple of these, & you got it right on the nose. I removed the inside window trim on both sides. Be careful with the corners of the dash, they are pretty fragile, & will break pretty easy. Raise it up on the glove box side & twist out carefully. I'm going to keep your set-up, just in case I have to do it again. Happy New Year. Gene

Thanks and you're right about the dash. If it's original, you're gonna crack it if your not exceptionally careful.
Great tutorial, best of luck to you! Like anything else you will do on a 'Vette, when it starts to get the better of you, walk away!! Next time you go back to it, things will get better.
The '75 I did, it wasn't necessary to remove the top dash or the gauge cluster, just had to be more patient with everything. Definitely take out the seat on that side, though, much better ease of access for your body. You will learn contortionism at its finest on this job!
