Shifter knob hole/thread size?

Shifter **** hole/thread size?

I'm modifying a shift **** to fit my 82. Whats the thread/hole size I should drill into it to fit the shifter stalk threads? what I need is the tap size....

I think I used 5/8 18 tpi nf for my 81 when I made my **** but get a bolt that size and try it on your **** first before you do anything just to be on the safe size.

I think Armstrong is correct but I do have the tap @ the house, so if you can wait, I will find it and email you tonight :yesnod:

Thanks...the problem is my old **** is made of wood and was just pressed on.....I will get a nut that size and see if it fits the shifter threads.

I'm not sure if yours is different than the early C3s, but the thread for the early C3 manual cars is 9/16-18. I can't remember for sure, but I believe that is also the same for the auto shifters too.
