Must be my day to post. So now that the front alinement issue is over, I park in front of the barn, getting ready to wash it. try to start it again and no spark. Checked input plug......got it. weather pack connecters..... got it. So I remove the spark mod from inside the dist. went down to autozone for another one. The gal says she can test it. I thought that is pretty cool. Didn't know you could. tests it 3 times......failed once. It had been acting like it would miss at idle for several months, But oh well, if thats as bad as it's going to get.......you get the pic. Way good thing I replaced it instead of sticking it back in. And does run very well now. ps. I have the feeling this is in the wrong forum spot. sorry.
I've lost a couple of those modules, both fortunately failed in my garage, but non the less failures which could have left me stranded. I now carry a spare but recently ran a ground from the distributer to the frame and found a couple of ground straps missing from the newer style HEI distributer. Fingers crossed, no failures this year.

When installing the modules the bottoms need to be coated in a light, current conducting grease. Used to be packaged with the modules back in the day. It's necessary to help move heat from the module.

I agree, very true but in my case not the cause for failure
