68 Vette HP engine code suffix

68 Vette HP engine code suffix

I'm sure this is posted in the forum, but the reason I am asking is I need confirmation that the 68 matching numbers vette I bought is indeed a 350 HP engine. The engine code suffix on the block is HP. I have been on numerous sites, some indicating it is a 350 HP engine with manual trans, A/C and P/S, and some sites saying it is only 300 HP. Please help.

corvette black book states: suffix:HP is 327ci,350hp,mt,ac,ps. Hope this helps.

I thought the code was HT for the 327cu.in. 350HP motor.

The majority of my books state 350HP however some also say 300HP.

NCRS judging guide shows 350 hp, manual trans, PS, A/C, Q jet. Picking up an NCRS 1968-1969 judging manual has an unbelievable amount of information in it. Another great book for your car would be the Vette Vues fact book by MF Dobbins. Welcome to the 68 club.

You are corrrect. There are two codes for the 68 350hp; HP and HT.

I only found the HB as a 300 hp 327......I suppose if there equipped with an aluminum manifold it would be a 350 hp....cast iron would definitely make it a lower hp car
