Body Repair
Removed engine from completed chassis today and started body repairs. Have a rusted out area on passenger side #3 mount on birdcage. I hogged out the access cover hole, staying on flat portion of glass for easier glass repair when cage fix is completed. Chiseled out the top bracket that transition birdcage upright support to the birdcage framerail support. The framerail support has a section that runs on the outside edge from where it attaches to the upright support, out about
6" that is rusted out. The inside edge from where it attaches to the upright, is solid as a rock. I have a donor car which has this area in perfect condition. My thought is to cut out only the rotted side area of my birdcage framerail support, and scab the transitional bracket and a patch for the removed section of framerail support, from the donor car, and weld it into place. Any advice appreciated.
