It will b hanging up on the 2 dowell pins that are between the 2 lower bolts , 1 on each side . Just carefully tap in that area and it will come apart .
No, because the starter is bolted onto the engine block. As long as all the bolts holding the bellhousing to the block have been removed and the couple of small bolts holding the dust shield to the front face of the bellhousing have been removed as well there shouldn't be any problem getting it off. You may have to separate it from the block in a couple spots with a putty knife, and spraying some WD40 or PB in between the housing and the block might not hurt, but I would avoid smacking it with anything more brutal than a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer. No big deal really...
