Default 78 Interior

I purchased a Video CD from Eklers on interiors, it was great for carpets and seats but NOT for the Center Console. I would reuse after painting the old one. Any data will be appreciated.

The center console/small gauges stack is plastic (2 pieces). If it is not nicked/scratched/gouged it can be refinished. (If you wish, now is the time to convert to a modern electronically tuned DIN chassis radio. It is not difficult to alter the stock gauges piece to accept a DIN chassis, PM me if you need help). Refinish the missing chrome perimeter lines with a Krylon silver leafing pen UPC 24504 09902 and you are done. If the ashtray door needs refinishing (the only piece that requires repainting), remove the lid and paint with SEM Trim Black #39143.

Also please note that reproduction pieces are available from many of the Corvette parts vendors. Cost $100 to $150 for both.

Thanks good data, I want to stay as close to stock as possible, yet the motor has been redone. All about upgrades and cash is not an issue. Send me some links... btuvell@gmail.com or here.
My question is HOW do you get the plastic around shifter and temp controls up/out? Is it just the 4 screws by the shifter bag? Automatic.
Trying to do all my homework before going down this road. About to post about tomorrows project...
Thank You - also I have the fake wood looking trim.

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows how the shifter console was installed.

Remove the carpeted sides. Remove the trim screws holding the shifter trim plate. Go easy because it's only plastic.

AIM shows the two hidden screws under the bottom of the center cluster. Remove those.

For AT cars, remove the shifter ****, spring, and ball.

Slowly lift up the trim plate, unplugging things as you go.

Screws by the shifter are only for the shift boot.

To add a little more detail:

There are three screws that hold on each side panel ( between the transmission tunnel and the console plate). Remove the side panels.

There are 6 screws holding the console plate in position - two at the very front at the corners, facing downward; two at the very back, facing downward under the e-brake assembly; and two more, one on either side midway between the front and back. Remove these screws.
