You'll find most here are in the 'do it yourself"-er category. Have you asked the guys who supplied the engine this question?

Replacing an engine is a job that pretty much any decent shop can do well.
Anyone in the area with a decent reputation is most likely safe.

While being a local machining company they are also one of the most well reviewed online sellers of turnkey engines. I've read through hundreds of reviews on them and have found very few ratings on them that were less than just outstanding with the highlights being customer service and durability of their engines.

I've got no issue with pulling the motor. I work on a farm and we already have a motor hoist the only issue is that 81 is the first year to have an on board computer on all models. While mechanics are my speciality electronics are not and I would like to get the car reassembled with all systems funtiOning correctly. I'd also like to not have the car not out of commission for more than a month.

Default 460 hp 1981 Vette

New plan guys. New engine comes with vacuum advance distributor installed already. The motor will be pulled when shipment notification is received on the new motor. All computer connections will be unhooked. As the car is a manual trans it makes this much simpler with the only thing needing to be done is to simply let the check engine light glow until it inevitably burns out. The engine bay will be a lot cleaner without all the wires running to the carb, intake, and thermostat! Upon removal of the engine a Centerforce clutch will be installed to handle the additional power. Any ideas whether the stock 4-speed will have any issue handling that kind of power?
