I mean, is it in the car? Does the starter grind?
Like all repairs, it is a matter of compermises.
If it's in the car and works ok, is it worthwhile to r&r it?
If you're doing a new clutch, it may be worthwhile to repair it since you'll be removing the flywheel to resurface it anyway.

I would also add however that it's worth examining the flywheel surface for heat checking. Minor checking can be addressed by resurfacing the flywheel, but at some point it may be more cost effective to just replace it. How may miles are on this flywheel?

As others have mentioned, try to determine the cause and you can simply replace the ring gear on the flywheel.
I would also add however that it's worth examining the flywheel surface for heat checking. Minor checking can be addressed by resurfacing the flywheel, but at some point it may be more cost effective to just replace it. How may miles are on this flywheel?
