How do I remove decals w/o messing up paint?
The previous owner of my '78 ( We'll call him Bubba Dingleberry)
decided to add some instant horse power by putting "L82" decals on the hood.
Trouble is, its not an L82 ( I wish ).
These things are tighter than a stuck booger, and appear to have a metallic underside.
How do I get these damn things off without messing up the paint?
Thanks in advance.......Blademaker

I would try to lift an edge of the decal after it's good and warm from the sun.
Pull straight back toward the sticker don't pull up.
If that doesn't work the Eastwood company sell a wheel that is supose to remove pin striping etc without harming paint
Great stuff... Will remove tar, undercoating, unwanted labels/stickers, you name it. It has been my experience that it will not damage paint. I used it to completely clean the underside of my '70 coupe and it even left the cheap blackout paint intact while removing the undercoating.
Soak the decal in question well... Let it sit for a moment... Work more adhesive cleaner underneath the decal underneath as it begins to lift. When finished, clean the area with soap and water and apply your favorite wax. It should take you no more than a ten minutes from start to finish.
Heat is good too, but you need to be careful not get the surface too hot or you WILL damage paint. I much prefer the 3M solution.
