Default air conditioning blower modification

In a recent post about renoving orig. ac Robb Salzman mentioned a mod. he had done to his vette based on threads of info going back many years. I don't yet know how to do a click on thread but it was "forums/corvetteforums/c3-t...motor-fan.html". I reposted this so it would be current & easy to search for those who are ready to abandon their factory ac which I recently did. Robb says this mod. is fairly difficult because room to work is restricted but the results yield a lot nore airflow at the vent. I bought my 78 back in July & drove it south from South Carolina in blistering heat & humidity. I had the air on high & all the way to South Alabama I was thinking "if only this ac had more air flow".The car was a 25000 mile car-freshly serviced- with an unrestricted evap. coil. The problem was air volume & it just wasn't there. The answer to low cfm air flow may be solved by changing the fan motor to one from a s10 truck(& others listed in the post). This info might be especially helpful to those of you in the deep south or out Arizona way. Changing the blower & especially the blower cage requires a spacer fab. & also mentioned the need for a much larger ground wire. I thought Robb's thread link was important enough to mention so it might pop in a current ac search. Had I been able to find this info. it might have saved me the pain of going with an aftermarket ac. All we ask of our ac in the deep south & elsewhere is MORE COLD AIR. It could be as simple as changing the blower motor & cage (but I would also recommend going with a Sanden comp. & a new-more efficient- R-134 condenser). If you live in New England or lands to the North I apologize for torturing you with this post.
