Pulled the nose off my 73 for the first time and had a question about the bumper system. Comparing what I saw to the assembly manual, I seem to have what is shown on page 443 and I appear to be missing the large piece (#1) on page 444.
I am a little confused since both pages mention the picture is for the base model. Is it one or the other, or I am I missing the bumper itself?
Thanks in advance,
AL

Was worried that might be the case. Couldn't find them at CA, Zip, Eklers, Davies. Anyone have any ideas where to get one besides the junkyard? Anyone ever fabricated one?
Just so happens I have my front bumper cover off on my 73 ( getting ready for paint) the brackets you have look very close, probably the right ones. Your steel bumper is missing for sure. I'm trying to insert a pic, but doesn't seem to work.
This is what it should look like with out the bumper cover. Mine cracked, and the winter winds started taking chunks of it out into the yard. It's been about 6 years now and I still haven't put a new cover on. I have a new tru-flex to go on, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Most of my time is taken up with racing the car!
wow, i thought i would have something like that in one of that catalogs i got from corvette week. but apparently both corvette America and keen parts do not have them, or even list a part number in their books

Wilcox.....I am looking for a 73, the rubber front bumper covering. I have the bumper metal crossmember piece....but not the rubber covering. Do you have? If you can please email me cost at andyrumford@yahoo.com would appreciate. Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit
The terms "base" and "1YA00" on AIM pages mean all cars. No distinction between coupe or convertible. For the front bumper set up, all cars got the same installation.
Wasn't there an enormous Corvette boneyard in the Carolina's that had a big auction of cars and parts last Fall? I remember a number of foum members posted about it and the photos were amazing.
There's got to be a fairly ready supply if you can locate a Corvette salvage yard in the region.
