How far in or out of the fenderwells any tire/wheel sits ultimately depends on backspacing (not to be confused with or complicated by offset). Stock BS is 4". Many have been able to get 18x10's (typically with 5.5" BS, IIRC) inside the fenders without major mods (moving the park brake cable bracket is relatively minor), but how well the body fits on the chassis can affect clearance as well as tire/wheel specs. 275/40-18's to 285/40-18's would be tire size I'd be considering here. 18" rims also mean a better selection of modern street rubber you can't get in 15's.

I was tryin to avoid changin the front wheels, but your right. So what would you suggest on the front? 18x9, 17x9 staggered? I plan on keepin the suspension stock but upgrading to poly bushings, better springs, you know original equipment just better parts.

I'd suggest 8.5" w/4" BS or 9" w/4.5" BS, whether 17's or 18's (staggering sizes is your call), but keep in mind most 18's leave room for a big brake upgrade in future, if that's in the cards. Either way, a good rule of thumb is to keep tire tread widths within no more than about an inch wider of wheel widths. And, I wouldn't go larger on front diameter than rear (a few hundreths in negligible).
