78 Dimmer Pivot removal
I've got a floppy turn signal lever, and I'm trying to get the dimmer pivot out so I can take a look at what's going on.
I've got the column pretty much stripped down, turn signal switch is hanging out.
What next, press the roll pin all the way through?
*edit* Picture worth a thousand words...

Stared at the documents some more - looks like I have to remove the key buzzer switch and the lock cylinder. Then the 3 screws.
Do I need to remove the turn signal switch at this point or will I be able to remove the roll pin without doing that?

Judging from my photos and what I've seen of the various dimmer pivot parts, it looks like at this point that I have the *late* 78 pivot, since I have the roll pin.
Is it possible to use the early 78 pivot with the late 78 cap, or can I only use the late 78 pivot?

The original design dimmer pivot attached with a special screw. This required a special housing.
The design was changed to attach the dimmer pivot to the housing with a roll pin.
The 1978 design had the turn signal lever angle of 21 degrees. This design continued until sometime during the 1979 model year. Then the angle was changed to 46 degrees.
As far as I know, the differences in the early and late pivots is only the angle that the turn signal lever attaches to the pivot.
