shifter install, will not go into park
I am trying reinstall my shifter console (1975) with new black plastic pieces that slide, the problem is one of the plastic pieces it hitting the ac control bracket preventing the shifter to go all the forward into park.

I had a similar problem with mine and if I remember correctly, I had to trim a little to make it work. Trim a little at a time. If you trim too much, you will have a visible gap between plastic pieces and the console plate when you drop into low gear. Just go slow and trim a liitle at a time and make sure you don't cut too much off. Good thing is it's an inexpensive piece to replace if you mess it up.
