Default Some good news, finaly!

Went under the hood today and replaced my emissions vacuum lines, put the correct air cleaner on, put the proper breather pcv setup (was just an open breather on the pass side before) This fixed a problem I have not been able to figure out for 2 years. I was sure that I had a bad valve, or spring before. The engine gave up at about 3k or anytime you really put it down. Used to make a popping sound, like engine braking overrun. I messed with timing, got the Lars dist, adjusted the carb, did every "tune up" type thing, and was never able to make it any better. Changed these items today and she runs like a champ, pulls to the redline. WTF??? Now I mean no disrespect, cuz the forum has helped me out over and over again, and I AM very grateful. But why did no one ever mention that changing vacuum hose might have an effect. Could a vacuum leak cause this drastic diference. I didnt change any other variable, but man, I wish I knew it could be that simple.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that my slugish headlights pop right up now too! One less project to work on!

sounds like you had a big time vaccuum leak ever hear any whistling noieses its a dead give away. I usually replace all the vaccum lines on these cars because it is so important. glad to hear you got it working. Remember some times its the little things that you need no ones help for that work out the best. :yesnod: :seeya
