Default Or am I just drunk?

My '75 seems to wander on the road and is hard to keep in a straight line. To cure this I have so far replaced: steering control valve, idler arm, ball joints, poly control arm bushings, adjusted lash in steering box, replaced the rubber between steering box and column. The tie rods were checked but are fine. I brought it in for a 4 wheel alignment and they thought that all the steering components were good but could not quite get all the adjustment they needed even after removing all the shims. I told him my front springs were cut down a bit to bring the front end down, but he said that should not affect the caster/ camber adjustment that much. They adjusted it as best they could and set the toe in but it still wanders. This shop was recommended to me by a local corvette shop so they work on enough vettes that I would think they know what they're doing. Bubba had the rear trailing arm bushings replaced before I got the car. Alot of his work has already been redone but thats another story.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Did they do a 4 wheel alignment? I had one vette that had the rear end out of alignment and it wandered all over the road. Was actually dangerous to drive. Also check your trailing arm bushings to be sure the are in good shape.

It sounds like you have done all the right things! I did the same except for a rebuilt steering box. It was $135 I think. Just taking out the slop out of steering box might not be enough, it wasn't for me. Also, vetts are very sensitive to alignment! I am lucky to have a good shop that gets it right! A second opinion from another shop couldn't hurt. I can tell you that when aligned properly and the slop is out of steering, you will not think about any more changes! I hope this helps.
