Re: New Camera??? Sony Mavica CD300??? (Cruzmeisters)
Hey Len - today's P-G: Circuit City has the cd300 for $799 w/discount & rebate; my brother-in-law paid $1200 Easter a year ago. :yesnod:
Ron
Thanks guys. I've been watching this one for a while. I have a HP 1mega pixel that's about 2 yr old, but liked the idea of storing the photos directly to a CD.
Cruise---thanks, that's where I saw it. I've been watching it for some time and every now & again it's on sale for $799. I also saw the Sony which uses a memory card but has a zoom lens for $999!
Re: New Camera??? Sony Mavica CD300??? (1970 Stingray)
Yeah - Len, I wouldn't want one with a memory stick. Roger (white '57 Vette, silver cove, 245 hp powerglide) gave Donna his Mavica 75 (floppy disc) to try @ K-Mart/rte.8/Gibsonia 2 years ago, and we've been looking/salivating ever since playing with the b-i-l's CD300. Keep waiting for the price to go lower . Bob Renton ('70 red/black Plymouth GTX & '70 LeMans 'vert) just got a CD250 and loves it. Between you two, I can just keep borrowing and save myself $$$!

Re: New Camera??? Sony Mavica CD300??? (1970 Stingray)
Len - 2 rain-outs today is hurting the Cruise total. Donna visited HER mother in Greenville Saturday...I let her use the IMP/SS
Saturday weather forecast was "rain after midnite"; I figured if they were wrong (they were), I'd rather drive home from Norwin "Hills" than the Oasis.
Sure glad I waxed the Vette, just so I could get it rained on :mad :mad :mad

Hey Len, You might wanna try this web site...I've found most of their opinions pretty well based and they give good links to sales outlets that have a history of performance. http://www.zdnet.com/supercenter/sto...517363,00.html
Re: New Camera??? Sony Mavica CD300??? (1970 Stingray)
I've got the Sony TRV530...there may be a 540 or 550 out now...each year they add 10 to the model. It does have a memory stick to capture 1024x768 digital images, however I just shoot video with the camera and bought a firewire card with MGI video software to transfer the video into a 720x480 AVI file, then I use the software to capture stills off the video. The down side is the video and as a result stills are limited to 720x480 and any fast action will be blurred due to the speed of the video image. The upside is that if I really want a still image when high quality is required or when there is fast action then I can always snap a still onto the memory card. Thus, I don't use much of the memory card, so I can shoot film for like six hours on a single battery and memory card while using up six tapes...but if you shoot THAT much video then you had better have an 80 GB hard drive to transfer it to cause 5 min of video requires about 1GB of disk space.

My Dad gave me one of these Kodak DC5000's for Christmas.

For only $229 it has a good combination of features that fit my needs. It certainly won't fit in your shirt pocket but it is designed to take more physical abuse than the average camera.
The Sony Mavica CD300 is a very cool camera. I'm sure that you will be satisified with it.
