Help with seats 78
I dont know what the guy that owned the car before me did to the seats but the seats recline freely, they dont lock in any position so I have to put some thing behind the seat to prop it up. Can anyone tell me what piece I need to replace cause I dont see it on Corvette America or any other sites like it. The seats are in great condition so I would like to keep them.

The seats used a set (2) of upper and lower bumpers... The uppers screwed in the back of the seat and were adjustable. Do you have all four on each seat?

Umm, I dont have the car here with me, im at Ft Bliss Tx waiting for the car to get here but I think we may be talkin about 2 different things, I dont know much about seat hardware so im probably not explaining it right. the back of the seat moves freely its not the seat track if that makes sense. I wish I knew more about seats. is there a link where i could see what your talkin about maybe

There is an back lock mechanism that locks the back in place too.. you get the car, post up a picture and I can tell you what is missing..

They make a plate to help support this area. I made them for my 78 and will for the 75. I'm fairly sure Willcox carries them. That seems to be a weak area. In place of the tacked nut I welded in a threaded tube with a gusset to reenforce that area.

No C3 seats recline. The seat backs can get loose, but they do not recline. Could the PO have iinstalled aftermarket seats? The standard seats for the 78s were the high back buckets.

Order the 78 assembly instruction manual (AIM) from Willcox while you're waiting. You're going to want the AIM for much more than seat backs. Trust me.

the PO wasn't a very smart guy when it comes to cars. I'll check out that AIM your talkin about. Thanks
