quality fuel tank sending unit
I'm looking for some feedback on what brand/vendor of fuel tank sending units you've had good good luck with. Mine has never read correctly and now that I'm swapping fuel tanks, this is the ideal time to replace mine. My fuel gauge is new and it tests correctly. The sending unit was new, but just lazy and not functioning through the entire sweep of the float arm.
Thank you.

Paragon carries both the imported one and the GM replacement part.

This is the imported replacement part and it costs about $15 less...

I picked up a new correct tank along with their generic sending unit from Quanta at Carlisle about a year ago for an excellent price to put into my '73. The sending unit was quite inexpensive so I thought why not... When I got home and looked it over closely, I decided no way would I use that and ordered the better one from Paragon.
The sending unit I removed was a GM replacement part I installed new in 1991 when I installed a new tank at that time. Unfortunately the inside of the tank was covered with rust and kept plugging my filter so I put both new in it last summer. I cleaned up the old sending unit, even bought a new sock, but the rheostat for the gauge just won't register. If someone wants to give it a shot I'd be happy to send it to them. It looks too good to just throw away.
Good luck... GUSTO
But Brando, before you go buying another unit from anyone, lets find out what the problem is.
Have you tested the output of the sending unit? What year is the car?
I have to manuals dedicated to the fuel gauge systems on my site. One for 68-77 and one for 78-82.
You'll find them both at this link.

I had no idea that you could still get genuine GM fuel sending unit. I'm sure it's still made in China, but at least it's backed by GM.
Willcox:
I've completely destroyed the sending unit due to experimentation with drilling and tapping and other ideas I was trying to work through for my set up. So testing it is not an option.
Thank you to all that took the time to help me out.
