I`m runnin`with M20 close ratio gearbox and a 3.70 rear and you really must work the gears under acceleration.. :smash: But it comes of the light like bat outta hell.. :cheers:
Alwyn:The weather here is great ,about 20 degrees and sun.Do you have any pics of the panel around the shifter?Is you ashtray lid black or chromed?

I'd recommend the 3:55 as a road gear if you're going to be running over 60 mph vs. the 3:70 since you plan to use it more as a regular driver. I had a fully stock '79, L-48, automatic and it did pretty good gas mileage wise with the 3:55 about 15-16 mpg on trips with cruise control. I now have a 4-Spd, '72 LT-1 (also fully stock) now with 3:70 gears and rarely do I get better than 12-13 mpg. Although the 3:70 has more off the line quickness, I remember that my 3:55 also being pretty quick with the automatic coupling. :chevy Save The Wave!!! :cheers:

great replies from all! i'm gonna drive for a bit with the 3.08 and see what kind of driving i do (including gas!!) then decide on 3.55 or 3.73.
